In the late 70s, we saw this version of the band at the Knott's Berry Farm Good Time Theater. Sat front row center. They sang this song and all their other hits. All for the price of admission to Knott's Berry Farm. Miss those days.

My Grandmother used to play this on the piano, singing along with my Mom, who had once gone on tour singing. My Granfather had wanted to be an opera singer before ww2, but he came home and started a family instead. The 3-4 packs of cigarettes a day kept him from singing very much by the time i came along, but i can still hear his voice in my mind. My dad was an old school jazz drummer, my uncle was played drums for several old Southern rock bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd (just every now and then when the regular drummers couldn't). I feel terrible for people who haven't had real music in their lives. Everyone, please fight for music in schools!

Notice at :38 how Don Knotts becomes Barney Fife for one second. Andy Griffith once said that Don was not Barney but he could become Barney at the drop of a hat. Don Knotts was one of the most brilliant comic actors to ever grace the tube.

I encountered Ted Cassidy in a Sears department store candy line in Glendale, California. I lived "next door" in Eagle Rock. It was in 1970. My good friend "John" (who was just ahead of me in line) had excitedly whispered over to me, "Hey Marty, look how tall that guy that who just walked up behind you in line is, he's a giant!" I didn't want to just turn around and disrespectfully stare right up at the big guy, so I decided I'd turn around and pretend to 'just be looking for a wall clock to see what time it was getting to be(stores still had helpful wall clocks back then!). When I glanced up, I right away saw "Lurch" without any makeup on or wearing his costume! I recognized him right away, who wouldn't? Well, I suppose my friend didn't, he just said some "giant guy", ha! I wanted to say something to "Lurch", but I couldn't think of a single thing to say that wouldn't sound kind of stupid. Well, Sears always gave out free bags of popcorn to kids just so their mouths were full and they wouldn't be able to pester their parents to buy buy buy them things, so I just threw a "fun-knee" joke up to him by saying, "HEY KID... YOU HERE TO GET FREE POPCORN TOO?!" Mr. Cassidy's eyes grew a sparkle in them, letting me know that he thought what I had asked him was humorous, TINY me calling GIANT him a "kid" and all. Then he humored me kindly by slowly groaning out, in true Lurch fashion, " UUUUUUH....PEEEEENUUUUUT.... MMMMMM & MMMMMMS!". I laughed innocently to let him know that I thought what he had just said and done for me was "really cool". Then we talked for a couple of minutes more. I told him I was there with my mother and two sisters just to get new school clothes, he told me he was just browsing, but that he might pick up some new tools while he was there, and maybe buy a new washing machine because his old one was giving him trouble all the time now. That was on a Sunday afternoon. So on Monday I had the best "bragging rights" story to share before school, during short breaks between classes, at lunch and after school let out. And I had a good friend to back up my story when other kids tried calling me a liar! I was only 13, and just starting 7th grade, and I was going to a school in Eagle Rock that was both Junior and Senior high, grades 7-12. Even the big kids wanted to hear every detail of what me and Lurch talked about, and specially where we had met and at what time of day so maybe they might visit there and encounter him later on just like I had. The Addams Family show had already ended production by then, 1970. But they still showed reruns at the time, every afternoon even.

Love eve of destruction. It says so much, with so much power. It might seem bleak, but think the point was a warning to get off our ass's , and do something. Had never heard of Dawn of Correction till just today. Pretty disappointing on all levels. I'll give the 3 main reasons it's disappointing. 1. It's not just that the lead singer seemed like he was trying to somewhat copy McGuires voice, which I don't know might've been ok. But he had no soul, no emotion , no immediacy of the importance. The lyrics to eve of destruction was great. But so was McQuire' voice. Not that he had this raspy sound, but the emotion, he made it life or death. We were with him right on the edge. 2. The lyrics are so wrong. Eve of Destruction might be bleak looking, but it is real. These lyrics are propaganda...."the western world has a common dedication. To keep free people from Red domination", it's that typical conservative propaganda of the fear of Communism. To be clear, I'm not capitalist or Communist. That said, at least I have read Socialist and Communist writings, it's merely a different system. Saying it is evil are lies. There might've been some bad leaders, like Stalin is always mentioned, there's also been bad capitalist leaders. That's not either of the systems necessarily. So to say 'free people of red domination' is propaganda and a lie. We jumped into Vietnam, because of Eisenhowers wrong paranoia of Communism. His fear he called the Domino Theory, that if Vietnam becomes Communist country, they will takeover the whole area ie Cambodia, Laos, Thailand. For one, that's not true, there wasn't an agenda like that. More so, so what if they did, capitalist countries like US are always invading, overthrowing , taking power in other countries. Hell, US has 800 american military bases around the world. Why? I lived for 20 years in S.E.Asia. Mainly Thailand, but some time in Vietnam, Malaysia. Just moved back to the States. Vietnam right now is quite the 'happening' place. Cool country. Lots going on in culture, the Arts, commerce, etc in Vietnam. And guess what... The Communists won that war. And to today they're pretty successful, all under a Communist government. Thats not a promotion for Communism. Vietnam isn't perfect there's problems there. But I'd put the same problems they have , that Thailand has. And Thailand is not a Communist country at all. Communist or capitalist, the problems usually are the ones in power being greedy and screwing over their own people. 3. Lastly, I'm all for someone doing a song alternative to another, as far as the politics,etc.. But I hate that they do it exactly. The way the stanzas are, the lead singer really copying mcquire, the rhthym of it.. they just copied eve of destruction verbatim, on every leve. I hate that
